Get to know Madi

Why did you choose a career in the Occupational Therapy industry?

I’ve always been interest in health, particularly in understanding how the body works. After seeing the impact an OT had on the recovery of my sister, I knew that I wanted to provide the same level of support to those that didn’t think life would return to ‘normal’ after diagnosis. I love that I get to work collaboratively with and empower clients to achieve their goals, engage with the community and live as autonomously as possible.

What is the best part of your job?

Visiting people in their homes – seeing them in their most natural and comfortable environment, meeting their family and understanding how they live on a day-to-day basis. It’s so rewarding to watch clients achieve something they couldn’t before, especially the moment they realise what they’ve just accomplished. I also love the support network that Optimal Living Therapy community provides to both clients and OT’s – as someone just starting their career in OT I really value this.
