Inspired by her mother who worked in community disability support, Laura was drawn to working in the disability space.

She loves that no two days are the same as an occupational therapist and the opportunity to be creative and clinical in her approach to clients.

Prior to joining the Optimal Living Therapy team, Laura worked as an OT in Perth and the South West in community NDIS roles.

Laura’s qualifications:

What is your job role in the company?

Occupational Therapist

Why did you choose a career in the Occupational Therapy industry?

My mother works in a community disability support role, and I remember spending time with her clients in the groups she would run. They were great fun, and it sparked my interest to want to work in the disability space. I remember doing some research and feeling excited about the prospect of being an OT. I think I am also a very caring person by nature, which is well-suited to the role.

What is the best part of your job?

As an OT, I get to meet and connect with some incredible people and get to see them reach their goals. I love that no two days are the same on the job. I am also a very creative person and I love how this job allows me to put both creative and clinical hats on.

Briefly outline your level of experience in the Occupational Therapy industry?

Over the last couple of years, I have supported a variety of people with disabilities across the life span with functional capacity assessments, capacity building therapy and assessment and provision of assistive technology.
