Why did you choose a career in the Occupational Therapy industry?

I’ve always been passionate about helping people and OT lets me do so in a creative manner – I find the need to think outside the box when problem solving really engaging and fulfilling as every solution is highly individual and customised.  Every day is different when working in Occupational Therapy and I love that.

What is the best part of your job?

Getting a glimpse into what a clients life looks like when they’re in their home environment and being able to problem solve with them on the spot. I especially love seeing how small things can make a big impact for them and their family over time. It’s always a privilege to be a part of someone’s journey – whether that’s diagnosis, rehab or end stage care, and it’s rewarding to support them and their family in working towards their goals.

Briefly outline your level of experience in the Occupational Therapy industry?

Prior to joining Optimal, I was employed as a Senior Community OT for a majority not-for-profit organisation supporting adults with neurological conditions through assisted technology. I have worked in the NDIS space for a number of years and particularly enjoy the diversity of rehabilitation and prescribing assistive technology, including high end technology.
